In my previous article I introduced the concept of our inner beast and inner god. I would like to dive a little deeper today into internal interaction and how we can leverage our understanding of it to promote our own self efficacy and personal growth. If you would like to refer to the previous article before moving forward, you can access it HERE.
The beast's primary goals are self-preservation and self-glorification. It wants to stay in control by feeding off our fears. It thrives by manipulating us into creating more chaos and staying stuck in our pain cycles. Right now, it might be trying to convince you that you are powerless and have no control over the turmoil in your life or in the world. If you are feeling overwhelmed, stressed, or afraid, it's likely the beast at work, pushing you toward this despair, hopelessness, and helplessness.
History is filled with examples of the beast at play. But they are still very active and infiltrating our reality. We are witness to this when we see people so convinced that their way is the only way, and they are willing to do whatever it takes to prove it, even if it means causing harm to others. Being driven and blinded by their own sense of righteousness, allowing the ends to justify any means, no matter how destructive.
When we are committed to being aware of our own beast, initially it can feel like you are under constant scrutiny or surveillance of yourself. This can be taxing at first as it does not feel natural and does take energy and effort to sustain. But it is at your own detriment if you choose not to. The benefit of becoming this self aware is liberation and freedom from the toxic thinking and fear that once defined and confined you. It's the freedom to embrace life fully and experience it without the heavy weight caused by being shackled to thoughts and emotions that drag us down. Giving into the beast allows it to enslave you through fear, ignorance, or hopelessness, creating a life stained with frustration and regrets.
The beast weaponizes us against ourselves and each other by breeding hatred, guilt, resentment, self-pity, regret, prejudice, discouragement, inferiority, judgment, entitlement, and so many other toxic thought and toxic behavior patterns. These hold us back, keeping us locked in cycles of suffering. If you truly want to rid yourself of the beast, the only way to do it is to let go of these old, harmful patterns. So, first it helps to identify what these patterns are and are rooted in. In order to heal, you have to be willing to explore and release them. Be open to embracing a mindset that supports growth, compassion, and love which promote a way of life elevating the god inside of us, working towards a better quality of life and a stronger humanity.
